SHIFT LINKAGE: Certain manual transmission cars employ the use of shift linkages to allow you to shift the car from up above while the transmission is underneath. These linkages occasionally require adjustment. If you find that your car is not shifting into gear properly, or is hard to shift, a good place to look is at the shift linkages. Most cars with a manual transmission and clutch assembly, involve an adjustable clutch mechanism that allows you to adjust for the wear that occurs in normal operation. This adjustment is done down at the hydraulic cylinder, which is located at the bell housing near where the engine and transmission meet.
